SET IN A FICTIONAL EUROPEAN TOWN IN 1780, SWEET TOOTH IS A DARK AND MAGICAL FAIRY TALE FILM INSPIRED BY THE CLASSIC STPORY OF HANSEL & GREATL BY THE BROTHERS GRIM, BUT IT OFFERS A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE ON THE TALE WE THINK WE KNOW!
SWEET TOOTH IS THE UNTOLD STORY OF THE WICKED WITCH AND HER INFAMOUS GINGERBREAD HOUSE.

AS A YOUNG BLIND GIRL, SWEET TOOTH RELIES ON ALL HER OTHER SENSES TO MAKE UP FOR THE LACK OF HER SIGHT. THE AIM OF THE DESIGN IS TO ENHANCE THE USE OF THE SENSES BY INTRODUCING A HEAVY USE OF TEXTURE. TO CREATE A SENSE OF CONNECTION AND BELONGING, WE REPEAT OUR MOTIFS : THE CHICKEN, THE EYE AND THE PINECONE.
WE WISH TO CATURE A SENSE OF A ‘DISOBEDIENT FAIRYTALE’; A TRUE ESSENCE OF THE PLACES WE INHABIT - DIRT, GRIME AND BLOOD.
THE COLOUR SCHEME IS PARRED BACK TO BECOME QUITE MONOTONE, WITH A RICH RED AS THE ONLY BIRGHT TONE; THE COLOUR OF BLOOD CANDY, OLD APPLES AND CHICKEN WATTLES.
IT’S A COLOUR OF MANY EXPANDING MEANINGS - WE WISH TO PUSH THE USE OF RED, TO CREATE OUR OWN SINGULAR PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECT - REPRESENTING SWEET TOOTH AND HER JOURNEY.
